Whale Watching
Los Organos, Piura, Perú

During August, September and October Pacifico Adventures takes you to see the amazing humpback whales.
Humpbacks arrive to the northern coast of Peru from Antarctic waters for breeding and calving during the reproductive season. In our excursions it is possible to watch this magnificent cetacean perform spectacular breaching, swimming, diving in groups, and you may even have the opportunity to witness the early games of newly born calves under the vigilant eye of their enormous mothers.

This tour encompasses a broad navigation from Los Organos to Cabo Blanco in which we have achieved a 80% success rate sighting humpback whales in previous seasons.

This tour also serves as a research platform for our staff of marine biologists who are investigating several whale ecological aspects such as behavioral activities, distribution and population. The tourist can also be a part of our research by contributing any photos of the ventral side of the fluke of the whale to our photo identification catalog that may have been taken during the trip.

In addition, it is possible to see the fascinating marine life of the zone, like the bottle nose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), the common dolphin (Delphinus capensis, D. delphis), sea lions (Otaria flavescens), sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), sea birds such as the blue footed booby (Sula nebouxi) and the magnificent frigatebird (Fregata magnificens), navigating in the convergence zone between the cold Humboldt ecosystem and the warm equatorial ecosystem.  Watch the tour video here.
